Somewhere between the heroic memories of my cartoon-filled childhood, I'd say somewhere between Heman and Captain Caveman, lies a freakish memory of Slim Goodbody. Think Richard Simmons skinless. Yes, it's scary, but he did have good intentions on teaching us how our body works. As a kid, I didn't know anything, which made my life very assumptive and care-free. Translate to awesome. But what that creepy man in tights taught me was this: I had things inside me that kept me alive. I had content that mattered.
The greatest issue we see as an interactive agency is companies that have no substance. In a competitive field, they are outshined by their competitors simply because they don't know how to talk about themselves or the products they create. No clear call to action. No videos that explain what they do. No direct path to create a conversion.
Brian Teeman, co-founder of Joomla, wrote an interesting post on why good content is so important for any website. And the basic foundation is this: content allows you to explain your message clearly and concisely, content allows you to increase organic traffic and greatly improve your SEO by proving you are an influencer in your field, content gives your community a reason to come back, content is the lifeblood of your site.
Understanding who you are as a company and the message you want others to hear is critical to your success online. Content matters. Create it.
